Description

OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a well-rounded Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing Site Reliability Engineering team. As a Senior SRE, you will be exposed to all facets of the business and take a proactive role in solving (and preempting) mission critical issues. You’ll be working in one of the most collaborative offices in Center City Philly, developing and working with machine learning technology, surrounded by passionate, high-performing individuals.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Site Reliability Engineer candidate is an intelligent, motivated person that enjoys collaborating with talented co-workers to solve complex problems and make a meaningful impact on a team. The candidate should be:

Experienced supporting distributed, cloud based production systems
Knowledgeable about systems and application design, including the operational trade-offs of various designs
A proficient programmer, preferably in one of our primary programming languages: Go, PHP, JavaScript, and Python
Comfortable working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and understand the different services that AWS offers
Familiar with high-scale environments, including how to deal with production and staging deployment environments, designing software for high-scale applications, and best practices around modern DevOps concepts
Experienced using Docker/containerization in a production environment is a big plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Site Reliability team is critical to the successful delivery of Sidecar’s technology services to our customers. Site Reliability serves two primary functions: support of our production systems, and ongoing improvement of delivery practices. As a senior member of the team, you’ll be actively engaging with stakeholders across the business to ensure satisfaction with our technology services.

 

Reduce overall support burden on the team through design and implementation of system improvement projects
Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack: hardware, software, application, and network
Identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for the company; scope and create automation for deployment, management, and visibility of our services
Perform deep dives into both systemic and latent reliability issues; partner with software and systems engineers across the organization to produce and roll out fixes
Represent the SRE organization in design reviews and operational readiness exercises for new and existing services
Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to identify opportunities for improvement
Follow and help improve Sidecar's standards for design, coding, testing, and documentation
