Description

Looking for a Server Side Java Developer for a contract assignment in Portland, OR.

We seek an experienced Server Side Java programmer with the skills, energy and business acumen to excel in the design, development and deployment of data-driven Internet applications for the commercial aviation industry. You are a highly accountable self-starter, able to learn quickly, work with limited direction, and communicate effectively. You will be working in a team environment, often tasked independently and responsible for your own areas of the code base, but expected to review code and have your code reviewed. You will use your skills in Java, JavaEE, and a host of other Java libraries for writing clean, well-documented code and unit tests. Your contribution will be considered a success not only if your code performs according to spec, but also if the code is efficient and easy to extend and maintain. 

Responsibilities:

Plan application development by communicating directly with stakeholders, evaluating specifications, and setting expectations; analyze existing and proposed systems, identifying constraints and technical issues; estimate development time and establish project milestones
Develop and maintain full-scale data-driven products, primarily on the server side; create analytics and standalone libraries, along with a robust set of unit tests; streamline and upgrade existing features; test, debug, and resolve problems
Work with OLTP and OLAP databases, writing optimized SQL queries; create and utilize both logical and physical DB objects; tuning performance
Coordinate applications development through continuous internal communication; ensure client satisfaction by addressing open issues and troubleshooting development and production problems; support users by developing documentation and support tools
Occasional ad hoc data processing using SQL, Python, Perl, and other languages/tools
Required Skills:

Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision
Excellent English fluency, both spoken and written. You are able to discuss complex technical subjects with clarity and precision.
BS or MS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
Java, JavaEE, Object-Oriented Design
Relational Databases, SQL, JDBC
JUnit, unit testing, and system testing methodologies
Experience with version control systems, especially Git
Experience with continuous integration systems, especially Jenkins
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in JSPs, React, JavaScript/HTML5, REST APIs
Experience with Agile and Scrum
Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with OLAP, specifically multi-dimensional analytics, is a plus, but not required
Familiarity with aviation industry is a plus, but not required
